8-1/2 Months - Bottle Breaker
Well, Taylor has perfected her crawling and is pulling up to standing on everything. Now, she is just busy exploring everything. She especially loves to crawl under tables and chairs. She started clapping about 2 weeks ago and for about a week and half has been doing 'So Big' where I say "How big is Taylor?" and she raises her arms in the air and then I say "Sooooo Big!" She now has her 2 big upper teeth. And she's back to napping again, haleluyah! (that lasted for about 2 weeks).

23 Weeks / 5 Months 1-1/2 Weeks
[This is for the moms out there, everyone else just skip you wont get too bored] The past month has had some big eating changes for this baby. Taylor is now eating big girl food (like a champ), and formula. Still nursing a little each day, in hindsight, I guess she has sort of self weaned herself which was good cuz I was having a hard time deciding when to make the transition. I wanted to do sooner rather than later, but didn't know how - but like everything else with this baby stuff you sort of just figure it out. She started taking a bottle really well about 2 months ago and she has done well with the few brands of formula we had as freebies but we settled on Enfamil cuz it mixes the fastest and our dr likes it the best. She has now grown into size 3 diapers. Ok, so I went to the hell store (Babies R Us) and spent $75 on formula, diapers, and wipes.... they will probably last about 3 weeks.

20 Weeks / 4-1/2 Months - Blogging Update
What Taylor is doing now:
Well, she is becoming a very sweet little girl. She's pretty good, really only cries if she is hungry or bored (I think she gets bored a lot). She likes to do things and get out of the house. Yesterday, Angie's bday, she rolled over 3 times - tummy to back - so, like any mommy, I ran to get the camera to video and that was it, no more.... She is in her screaching phase of talking which is pretty funny and cute. I swear she does the "oooOOu oooOOu" (spelling??) like you hear in the club. She is getting very grabby now, so watch you stuff! Her eating habits are starting to change too. She is getting very fussy during the day when nursing, so weaning may be in her near future, but not sure if it's because I haven't been feeling well, gas bubbles, or she is just getting pissed at something. She is starting to eat some rice cereal, but doesn't have it down pat yet. We're gona try apple sauce here any day. Her temperment is pretty happy except after 6 p.m. she doesn't really like new faces or to be held by others than mom and dad (which is usually when others see her, so we get the whole gamut of "she's colicy," "she needs to be eating solids," "she's gassy," "she's [fill in the blanks]). She's been doing this since she was probably a couple weeks old, but we've just determined it is her personality.
We've been in the pool nearly everyday. Since the first day we took her we've been very interested in teaching her how to swim. I know that at 4-1/2 months of age a baby aint gona be swimming laps in the pool - my goal is to simply get her used to the water so that she is not afraid of it and she'll have fun around it in the future, not to mention the safety factor of her knowing how to swim. My experience with kids are that they are afraid to put their face in the water, so we practice that each time. I blow in her face so that she holds her breath and dunk. Next, we practice floating on the back - that's going slow, but getting better.

9 Weeks Old - Easter
Happy Easter! April 12th
Well it's been a long time since we blogged. Here's what Taylor has been up to lately......
Daddy (naturally) got a giggle out of her on her 2 month b-day (4/5). No such luck for mommy! She is such a daddy's girl and Joey just loves it! She is working on holding her head up and is now starting to 'chill' in her seats for longer than 5 minutes which means mommy can attempt to get something done during the day (although it aint much). We still watch a lot of tv though since Taylor eats all the time, so if there is a show you need updating on let me know. Taylor did her 2 month dr. visit last week and got 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine - talk about torturing the baby and mommy! She did well that nite. I just held her a lot and let her eat as much as she wanted. At that visit she was 12 lbs 5 oz, 23" - 90th percentile. She also has graduated to size 2 diapers. She is very active and is smiling a lot (like someone I know and which she looks just like).

Baby is Born.......
Baby Girl Lawhon was born February 5th 2009 at 12:55 p.m. in Suite 5. She is the 5th grandchild on both sides of the family. Mommy was pregnant 40 weeks and 5 days and labored for 5 hours 20 minutes. ....could 5 be her lucky number?
At birth she weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and measured 21 inches long.
My last dr appt was Friday, January 30th and within that week I had progressed from 1 to 2-3 cm dialated and from 30% to 80% effaced. My doctor was sure the baby was gona come any day but wanted to schedule an induction the following Thursday (5th) just incase because that was the last day she would be in the hospital before I was a week over due (at 1 week overdue they would induce anyway). We agreed, however, I really did not want to induce. So the next few days we played the waiting game with just one nite of I 'think' it might be time (that Friday nite). Induction (eviction) day morning I think was the coldest day of the year and we were late, of course, but I didn't care. Were suposed to be there at 6 a.m. and got there at 6:30. When we got into the truck, Sawyer Brown was on the radio - I took that to be a sign that it was definately a boy since baby would be named Sawyer and didn' think much of it until "she" came out.
They broke my water and started the meds at 7:45. I was kind of bummed out because I had not made any progress since my last appt when I felt like I had - I was still at 2 cm! At 9:00 my nurse was like "honey, do you want me to call for your epidural?" I was like 'it's been an hour? don't I have like a bunch more hours of this?' she was like "you might, but you are climbing out of the bed with each contraction." I wasn't ready to be tied to the bed so I refused. Up to that point I have done very well with my pain but after the nurse asked me that it went downhill from there. 30 minutes later she insisted and Joey begged me to get it so they ordered it. By 10 - 10:30 I was shot up, oh and they decided to check me THEN rather than while I was cussing or blubbering and I was 9 cm dialated! The anestition said if I'd waited a little longer they wouldn't give it to me and we'd have to go 'a la natural' (which my mom said I could have done it if I'd gone that far with nothing). After the shot all the meds went to my left side, which means I could feel my contractions on the right side, and they hurt like a mother. Imagine what it's like when your whole arm or leg is asleep, that is what my left side felt like - then excrutiating pain on the right. They rolled me to the right to get the epidural to flow that way but the baby's heart rate dropped drastically so they quickly flipped me to the left and the dude pulled the tube out a little bit and the meds began to flow to the right. They put an oxygen mask on me and I think I fell asleep. This is when Joey sent out his text 'the egg has cracked' and bam the family was at the hospital.
As a surprise baby, not knowing the gender, she really was a surprise. The whole pregnancy 95% of people were sure the she was gona be a he - even Joey and I were leaning more towards a boy so when she first popped out the doctor sort of held her close to her and said "hey you guys don't know do y'all?" I wasn't even thinking which she was, just that OMG there's the baby! The doctor took a peek, flipped her around and showed us "It's a girl!" She had this big smoshed wide face with puffy eyes and the biggest hands and feet I've ever seen on a bebe. I thought she's huge, gotta be a 9#er. When she started crying she really sounded like a girl - so cute. I thought good thing she's a girl cuz she really sounds like a girl. Next thing you know the nurse brought her back to me and said try to feed her, I was like are you serious? She was and the baby took to it in no time (big eater....wonder who she got that from?). Mom came in (she always unwraps babies to get a good look), she had to undo her diaper to be sure that it was a girl. Dad came in and said "did you have a baby" I said 'yup, it's a girl' and he was like "what the hell?" (in a disappointed tone). Sounds terrible, but it was pretty funny in dad's humor. Aunt Jessica, Lisa and Candice were also one the first there and they were taking lots of picture. I think Candice had her on Facebook within the first 2 hours of her life.
Next, she had her big first bath, one of daddy's proudest moments - you've probably heard him tell this story. There was a sink in the room with a kitchen faucet, when the nurse held her under to rinse, the baby grabbed with both hands and sort of pulled her self up - she's very strong.
Later, Joey's parents Ed and Neenie and Uncle Kelly came by. And Aunt Trish who took the best picture of us, our first family photo. We look so happy and tired! Joey's dad took him to eat and while they were gone my nurse got me up to go to the bathroom. I think it had been about 7 hours. And of course she was called out and the baby started to cry. I was about to cry too cuz I just wanted someone to help me (where was my mama!). Little did I know that this was a precursor to the next several months. Thankfully, Neenie was there to get the baby while I figured out 'how' to go pee ... really.
My appetite set it quick and all I wanted to eat was candy! So, Jessica to the rescue! That nite, Jessica, Ericka, Robert, Robin, David Mankus, Tana, and Leah came up for a visit. Mankus brought up some very good Crown (which I finally got to taste a month later with my granite guys when the counters were fully installed), so we had us a little baby birthday party in the hospital. While they were there they moved me to the small room.... pooie.... but it was ok, the bed was much more confortable and we had some really great nurses that nite.
We were pretty much up all nite and went to sleep good at about 7 a.m. - David Merritt came to see us at about 10 and was like "why are y'all stillll sleeping?!" Then Andrew Castleman came .... in the firetruck! Cool! We got to hear all the calls on his radio, then he left cuz there was a structure fire - we later saw it on the news. We had many visitors this day. Mom, aunt Cheryl, cousin Mike also stopped in that morning. Aunt Jess, Jane, Jason and cousin Madilyn soon stopped by. Tom, Crazy Christi, Chuck Moats, Vickie and Katie; Eric, Angie and Emma; Mike, Jeannie, Sharon and Devyn; Joey's parents, Kelly and Melissa. I'm sure I forgot some - I'm sorry, mama brain.
Saturday, we were slated to leave this morning, but they would not let us go without naming her. At 7am, utterly exhausted, I woke up Joey and said please name the baby. I had officially given up. All those childhood 'I'm gona name my lil girl this' was out the window. But, in my state of mind nothing sounded good or right or she looks like a [fill in a name], so I thought he could make the best decision. He picked his girl name for her first name and Anne we decided on months ago because we liked how it sounded with Taylor and plus the fact we met thru Anne so it has some meaning to us.

37 Weeks - Almost there!
Well, since New Years I have really popped even more. Even my doctor last week was like "wow, you look really pregnant now!" The doctor I saw the week before told me I was measuring big from my long torso and that the baby felt big and then guessed that the baby would be over 8#'s, if you have a trampoline let me know and I'll be by. (This doctor told Jane the same thing and her's turned out 2#'s smaller so we'll just see.) The baby just feels bigger too. Last week s/he rubbed across my ribs with it's little foot and scared the poo out of me. Sitting and laying down is a challenge also, tough to get comfy. Also, getting into the pain; pelvis, low back and overall pressure and yet the kid is still in my ribs!
The house is coming together as well. Although our little one will not have it's own bedroom done s/he will have a new kitchen and updated living room - isn't that what every newborn wants? The drywall was complete last week and everyone was right, it gets everywhere. This week our kitchen floor is going down and the winders and door arrived.
Well, less than 3 weeks to go, signing off now to go pack my bag.....

33 Weeks - Update
Anywho, got a lot done last week on the house. Had a Wednesday deadline to be ready for insulation which was pretty much met, then it was sprayed in on Thursday. That was interesting stuff. They came in and wrapped everything up in saran wrap that was not to be sprayed and then sprayed the foam in. It sealed up everything! Looks like puffy marshmellows. Then Saturday the sheetrock started to get hung. Even though there is a lot more to do we feel like we've made it over the hump.

30-1/2 Weeks - Belly Shot
Last week, 29, proved to be quite a growth spurt for the lil rascal. All of a sudden instead of a bumps and pinches, it is now rolls of whole arms and legs being felt. Instead of waiting for baby to kick to feel a part I can now just put my hand on my belly and feel something sticking out. I'm sure I will grow to catch up. I can now also feel hiccups all the time, at least 3-4 times a day. Baby also likes to party all nite long sometimes keeping me up too. However, Joey told me I slept thru one of the episodes of activity - I was asleep with my belly was against his back and he said the baby was going to town riding his bicycle. Joey also got his first little high five last week. He put his hand on my belly during a "quite time" where the baby's arms are and wham, one very strong punch.
JANE UPDATE:
Well, I'm sad to say that I have lost my $5 bet on Jane delivering on Thanksgiving. (For those who don't know who that is, it is my my pregnant sister due on Joey's b-day, Dec 2nd.) The doctor told her she'd go a week early so we are in the red zone for sure. Maybe we can get a double b-day if she hits my nephew Maxey's b-day on the 29th or Joey's b-day on the 2nd.... Joey's cuz Sharon on the 1st or my brother Robert, our friends Janice and Heather on the 3rd. Madilyn only has a few days to pick a day where it is all her own!

29-1/2 Weeks - How are you feeling?
Can you grow out of your maternity clothes? I think I did! My 'goto' shirts are now too short which reveals the panel (ask Rachel) and the elastic on the lovely maternity pants are getting too tight! But, only 10-1/2 weeks to go! It really hit me at 12 weeks to go, I was OMG we are gona have a little kid in 12 weeks! Joey was like don't worry everything will get done! I was like it's not that... WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY IN 12 WEEKS! Yikes!
Joey's comment leads me into the house reno.... it is going well. (I add this kind of stuff because I get asked about it a lot, so there you go.) Of course, different things take longer than anticipated and we've blown our budget by 60%, but hey to be expected ???? right? Thank goodness for the hand-me-downs for my poor lil baby. Let's throw some thanks out to Mark Andrews, Chuckles, Jay, Clay, Eric, Tom, Cheryl, Issa and all the rest I may be forgeting due to my prego hores. For those of you that know Tom I think he got in the last of the demo and I think he really enjoyed it, a lot! It may have been a 3 shirt day for him!
Oh ya, the baby! What about the baby? Well, the last few nites at around 4 or 5am I've been feeling these kicks in the same spot at the same intervals. I think they are hicups.

28 Weeks - The Fair's in Town
This is one of those benchmark appointments; we did a glucose test for gestational diabetes, I decided that it would be delicious to put chocolate chips on top on my whole wheat bagel... uummmm... oh no, the test! It came back ok, but my iron is low so now I gota take another pill. We met the last dr today, I told my baby knows how to pinch me, she thinks I'm crazy!
Well, the Fair has been in town for the last week. Since Joe is a carnie (really, he has a pass) we've been going just about every nite. Man, you guys missed some good shows. We saw Jason Michael Carroll and Phil Vassar, both were excellent and I am surprised it was not packed those nites. We also get to hang with our dear friends that do the Kachunga alligator show; Gil, David, and Bert.
This year they had a very special addition to the show, an albino alligator. There are less than 90 known in the world (or exactly 92 according to Gil); needless to say this valuable lil guy came along with the guys where ever they go like here to cook out at The Shed.

25 Weeks - Is that... a stretch mark?!
I'm feeling more baby head (or butt) and arm or leg rolls, and I think at times I can feel hiccups. My body has been completely taken over; nothing functions the way it used to (you mommies know what I'm talking about). And what's up with this acid reflux stuff!?! Gross! I think I've been getting into the uncomfortable stage.... I know, it only gets worse from here. Getting a little more tired lately, I mean whole days just fly by and that nite I'm like what did I do today? Need to exercise so if anyone knows of a heated pool or needs a walking buddy please come drag my hinny out of the house! Seriously!
Well, sorry I haven't seen or spoken to anyone lately, we have been extrememly busy at the house. Joey has completely gutted the kitchen - gone. Torn down the walls between the kitchen and living room, pulled off the sheetrock and insulation in the kitchen, living room, and dining room, tore out the closet in the carport and is now in process of building up the floor and framing in a laundry room. Everyone and their brother that wanted to take a sledge hammer to the walls; sorry, you missed your chance. We called, no one answered except for Robby Bateh. He bagged up all the 'stuff' drywall and insulation which was quite a job, so far about 90+ bags... and they are heavy (Joey had to bribe the garbage guys to take off so many). It has been interesting so far as we have found some oddities on how the house was built and some extra doors and walls and it makes you wonder how the house was before. The buildout of the laundry and floor have been like putting a puzzle together trying to match up new and old and Joe's dad Ed has been a tremendous help with that. Let us also thank Joe's cuz Mike for structure, layout, and design advise and drawings. Also special thanks to Joe's mama for bringing over dinner all those nites. Still a lot of work ahead, but boy does it feel great to finally get started! I never knew I would love to live in dust, dirt, clutter, and chaos while pregnant! Seriously, if you saw what was on top of the old cabinets you would like it how it is now better!
On a sad note, I missed Biketober Fest last weekend.... I know I would have fit in quite well with that crowd (pregnant chick on the back of a bike), but I just didn't want everyone to know how much of a redneck I am......

19-1/2 Weeks Dr. Appt & Ultrasound
Today was off-visit. On the list of scheduled appointments I had anticipated this to be a more exciting one because we get to 'see' the baby! ...well, it fell short of my expectations. whaa whaa
Every aspect from the wait to interactions with people left me with a "what the heck" feeling. Anywho, enough of that, we'll chalk it up to a bad visit.
Baby was sleeping, so we didn't see a show like last time. Got some "alien baby" pics, that's about it (these are face shots, not the cute side shots). The tech said again, "good looking baby," how can she tell? I know, I know it's all about the measurements and such they are looking at, not my need to put a cute picture in a frame! She measured the head (not too big and not too small), the thigh bone, and tummy. All normal and good, horay! On to the doctor, we met a new one today. She measured the "baby's home" and it is up to my belly button now and his/her heatbeat is 144 beats per minute. I expressed my complains of left side pelvic pain from standing, tailbone pain from sitting, and my hands and feet falling asleep at nite - she said I must drink more water... does beer count?

18-1/2 Weeks - Make Momma Cry
http://bestparentever.com/
Check it out, I laughed so hard I was sobbing. It is very funny to me probably because I've been looking at a lot of the items that this site dogs on.
And for those that know the preacher at my work.... he told me today that if I keep drinking coffee my baby will come out black.... I didn't know such things happened.

15-1/2 Weeks - Back from St. John USVI
http://mattandjaimeswedding.shutterfly.com/
Went to the Dr. yesterday, listened to the heartbeat - cool, previous test results good, and they sucked a little more blood from me. No u/s... what the hay?! I thought they liked giving them to me! Ha, I'll just get Kristy to do then! Oh, and I've officially gained 3 lbs.... how bout that for a Porkchop, Donny?
Mommy (that's me) has been feeling a little $)!ty these last few days..... major headaches and growing pains.... I swear they are contractions, but the Dr. assures me they are 'stretching'. Well, it feels like a bowling ball in a certain area!

13-1/2 Weeks Ultrasound
The video is mostly of the baby facing down in a crawling possition. Head on left, butt on right. Towards the beginning you will see the baby face you (looks like an alien) then quickly turn away. You'll also see arms, butt, and a little bit of legs tucked underneath. You will hear us refer to the baby as a girl..... we do not know which it is, however the tech was guessing girl due to the nonstop movement.
This is a retake of last week's ultrasound. The Dr's office scheduled me with the wrong stenographer, so we had to retake with the one who was certified to do this particular test.
The baby was surely showing "Joey" traits today. Very active, and a little stuborn. It took us an hour and a half, 2 times looking, and every way to do an ultrasound to get the measurement the tech needed. The 1st time looking the baby would not give us a profile shot for her to take her measurement, so she asked us to hang out for a while and then we will try again. The 2nd time the kid just wouldn't stop moving and kept rolling around. Finally, an excellent profile shot, she goes to measurement and ...whooop... the baby flipped completely over. Guess I should lay off the coffee???....

12-3/4 Weeks Ultrasound
Alright, enuff of the techy stuff...
The tech said the baby had a cute face...
We got to see the baby moving around! S/he likes to stick their arms over their head (like mama sleeps) and seemed to be bouncing or scooting when stretching the legs. Looking at these pictures I think the baby's arms are around the head. It was really cool. I was crying and laughing so much that I was bouncing the screen around. I had to chill.
Can you see that foot!?
S/he is 6cm tall.
Grown 2 cm in 2-1/2 weeks.
